Meet the Team

Mary founded Carpe DC Food Tours in 2014, to pursue a passion of showing people the beauty of connecting to the local community through food and stories.

This vision came from her adventures overseas, as well as getting to know the District and the great food it has to offer.

Prior to Carpe DC Food Tours, Mary earned her M.P.A. in nonprofit and international management, worked with a Ugandan based NGO, a children’s shelter and for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Stefan started Carpe DC Food Tours while pursuing a phD in Archaeology at the University of Maryland.

He is a cook and foodie, who loves trying new flavors and sharing his love with others.

He has also worked with countless communities and students on archaeology projects, and is passionate about sharing untold stories discovered through artifacts and research.

BRITTANY PIOVESAN, Tour Guide Extraordinaire

Brittany joined Carpe DC Food Tours in the summer of 2016. She has eaten her way through many cities around the world and has yet to meet a dumpling she doesn’t love.

During the day Brittany works for an international NGO and by night can be found trying one of the brews from DC’s burgeoning beer scene. A recent transplant to DC, Brittany loves sharing the stories and fun quirks of her adoptive city.

AMANDA MILLER, Tour Guide Extraordinaire

Amanda is a DC-area native and received a Bachelors degree in the Culinary Arts from The Art Institute of Washington.

She has worked for small businesses in the industry for her entire career and is passionate about food in all its aspects, from farming and harvesting to preparing and serving.

LAURA PIMENTEL, Tour Guide Extraordinaire

Laura joined the Carpe DC team as a Tour Guide in 2017. Essentially her dream job, Carpe DC combines her love for DC real estate, history, architecture and delicious, local food.

As a real estate agent, Laura considers exploring DC history and culture a requirement of the job. Having lived in the area since 2000, she is passionate about sharing her love of DC with her clients and visitors to the city. As the mom of two energetic boys, she’s always seeking out great parks, trails and museums.

Laura has worked in every neighborhood in DC and loves something about each one, but nothing compares to her own beloved hood of Woodridge in NE DC.

MARISA BALDINE, Tour Guide Extraordinaire

Marisa Baldine is DC Native who joined Carpe DC in 2017. She has spent time worked in food education and urban farming projects in the DC area. Prior to becoming an official tour guide with Carpe DC, she was known to her friends and family as an unofficial guide for years when they visited.

Marisa has also lived and traveled in other cities and countries, but her love for DC always brings her back. Marisa is passionate about connecting people with agriculture and history and excited to share her passion for the city with others.
