Frequently Asked Questions
When are you in the office to answer my phone calls?
We spend most of the day out on tours, but are available to answer your questions by phone Monday through Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. You can always send us an email, too!
Where should I park?
It’s DC. You don’t wanna mess with parking! We recommend taking an Lyft, Uber or the Metro. While our U St tour is across from the metro, Georgetown and 14th St require a little bit more walking, so definitely google the directions. But hey, if you have to drive, then we suggest you give yourself plenty of time to find street parking.
How much walking is there? Are the tours fast-paced?
It won’t be like hiking through the Amazon–we’re walking about 1.5 miles for 3 hours. Think of it as more of a “stroll.” We make long stops so you’re not really on your feet much.
Are the tours wheelchair or baby stroller accessible?
There are a couple stops that have a step to get in. Let us know if there are more specific questions on accessibility by emailing us.
What about bringing children?
We don’t offer special ticketing for kids, but they are welcome! Each one will require a ticket as well. Do keep in mind that the length of the tour is about 3 hours. You know your little ones best, so if you think they’re good to go, bring them along!
Are the tours in other languages?
Unfortunately Babel Fish technology isn’t available to us at the moment, so all our tours are in English only. Please email us if you would like to set up your own interpreter to come along.
Can I shop on the tour?
Since our tours are on a schedule, we ask everyone to make any purchases after the tour. This way we can provide the freshest tastings and to keep others from waiting!
What about restrooms?
Most of our stops have restrooms. No worries there.
Do tour guides accept tips?
Of course! We handle the cost of food and tips at each restaurant, but if your tour guide did a great job, give him/her a little extra to show some love. *Note: Here is where cash changing hands IS acceptable. We recommend the “Sinatra handshake” to be discreet about it. With that said, it’s totally not mandatory
Can I book a private group tour?
Yes! There’s nothing like a private party ‘cuz a private party won’t stop! Actually the tour does stop, but feel free to keep your party going afterwards. If you have a group of 8 or more, you can have us all to yourselves! Read more here on how to set up a private tour.
When is the best time for going on tours?
There are no bad times! But if you’re new to the District, our tours will help you get acquainted with the area, so take them at the beginning of your visit.
What types of foods and drinks are served on the tour?
The selection may vary from time to time to keep things fresh. Plus, surprises are always more fun! Rest assured, it’ll all be delicious and kinda the size of a filling meal.
What about my dietary restrictions?
Let us know about any food allergies and dietary restrictions when you buy your ticket. We’ll do our best to make it work and find alternatives.
I just ate. Do I still need a ticket?
Yes, eating is part of the fun! You don’t wanna walk around and watch other people eat! Plus, the food is gonna be so good, you’ll end up asking your friends for a bite and then it might be awkward.
Do I have to buy tickets in advance? What forms of payment do you take?
We want your tour experience to go smoothly, so yes, we ask that all tickets be purchased ahead of time! As for payments, it’s hard to stuff cash through the interwebs, so for your convenience, we take all major credit cards. However, cash tips are accepted by our tour guides, and greatly appreciated!
If it's sold out, can I get on the waitlist?
We don’t have a waitlist, but if you do see that a particular tour is sold out, let us know. We’ll try to work something out. We’re nice like that!
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! You may buy a gift certificate here.
What if it rains?
The Tours (like the show) must go on! We run tours rain or shine. So bring your umbrella, grab your poncho, and get ready to have fun. We’ve never let a little rain stop us. Plus, most of our time is spent indoors relaxing and eating, so we’ll be okay.
What if I need to cancel?
As we mentioned, we tour rain or shine. With that said, safety comes first. In the occasion the weather gods decide to throw a helluva tantrum and rain down lightning bolts, we will either reschedule the tour or issue full refunds. If you must cancel before 24 hours of the tour, we’ll give you the option to reschedule or get a gift certificate. Do it within 24 hours and well, you know… *shakes head*
