It’s one of our favorite streets in the city

Pick up tea from a 5th generation herbalist while we stroll and chat about the heydays of “Black Broadway” and who gave U Street the moniker and the role it played in during the Jazz Era. If you listen carefully, echoes of music still linger from historic theaters that still stand today.

Sample a quintessential Washington, DC snack and continue down the block while we reveal stories behind tucked away murals, sculptures, and the artists who created them. Look up at the Art Deco facades and discover how architecture has evolved with the city.
